An exquisite cottage neatly tucked away in the beautiful, unique setting of Churchhaven within the West Coast National Park.
Just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town, this idyllic beach cottage reveals itself as you pass through the old vintage wooden doors, leading you into the landscape. Spectacular views of the marshlands, typical West Coast vegetation with its warm autumnal hues, and the turquoise waters of the lagoon, with its flamboyant flamingos, create a striking and soothing contrast of colours.
The kitchen features a signature wall dressed in marigold, adding warmth and calmness to the space. The high-pitched wooden ceilings and generous skylights allow light to filter in seamlessly.
As you step outside onto the stoep, a sense of relaxation envelops you as your eyes follow the motion of the flamingos in the water. Whether you’re gently swaying in the hammock or reclining on the comfy outdoor furniture, a tranquil sense of calm suggests you have indeed arrived in paradise.
The house has been consciously designed so that the living and entertaining areas are slightly set apart from the bedrooms but are cleverly connected by a pergola. Four en-suite bedrooms accommodate up to ten guests—ideally six adults and four children.
The bunk bedroom, with its four beds, is perfect for families with children. The outdoor space offers exciting cooking and dining options for everyone. One evening you might be braaing, another you might enjoy a fun pizza night, or simply snack around the table al fresco. One thing’s for certain: most evenings will include storytelling around the fire pit as you watch the moon rise on the horizon and the stars light up the night sky.
The cottage is committed to being "off the grid." Everything you use or consume in energy is generated on-site. There are twenty solar panels, a large array of battery storage, and a back-up generator—more than any other property in the area. Additionally, a borehole provides fresh drinking water.
The most wonderful attribute of Churchhaven as a holiday destination is its abundance of thrilling activities and nature excursions to explore. Whether you’re into sailing, canoeing, swimming, walking, birding, or simply lounging in the hammock with a good book and a cold drink, you will never be short of things to do.
